Tuyet-Lyn Christensen Psychotherapy

A space to engage what feels stuck—and support movement toward greater aliveness

Individual Therapy in Berkeley and Petaluma or online with Tuyet-Lyn

There are moments when something in your life no longer feels quite right, patterns repeat, reactions feel familiar, or a quiet sense of disconnection or longing begins to surface.

For many, this is shaped by the lasting impact of complex or developmental trauma, even if it doesn’t always appear that way on the surface and often becomes more noticeable during times of transition or change.

You may find yourself at a threshold, questioning what’s next, or sensing that something is shifting, even if it’s not yet clear what.

I offer individual therapy for adults seeking deeper understanding, meaningful change, and a more connected relationship with themselves while cultivating a greater sense of aliveness in how they live

My work draws from relational, somatic, trauma-informed, depth-oriented, and parts-based approaches. Together, we explore how your experiences live in your body, your relationships, and your inner world actively engaging what emerges in the moment.

Sessions are available online and in person in Berkeley and Petaluma.

A Space to Listen Closely and Work with What Emerges

Therapy with me is a space to listen closely, to your thoughts, your emotions, your body, and the different parts of you that may be asking for attention.

We stay actively engaged with what arises, tracking patterns, noticing what feels just out of reach, and working with it as it comes into awareness. Rather than staying only at the level of insight, we focus on your lived experience, allowing shifts to happen in real time.

As this unfolds, places that have felt held or stuck can begin to move, opening into more aliveness, expression, and range.

When You Might Seek Therapy

You might be noticing:

  • Patterns in relationships that are hard to shift

  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or internally conflicted

  • A sense of being different or not fully understood

  • Difficulty accessing or expressing what you feel

  • Carrying a lot for others, while your own needs go unattended

  • A sense of disconnection within yourself, or difficulty staying present with your experience

  • Moving through a transition or standing at a threshold, and wanting support navigating what’s changing

  • Patterns that may be shaped by earlier or complex experiences, even if they’re hard to name

You may already be aware of some of this—and sensing a desire for something to shift or come into clearer focus.

My Approach to Individual Therapy

Individual therapy with me is a space to explore your inner world with curiosity and care, while actively engaging what unfolds.

My work is guided by several interconnected areas:

Relational work — exploring how your ways of relating have been shaped through relationships and the wider contexts you move within

Somatic awareness — attuning to how your experiences are held in your body, not just your thoughts

Trauma-informed care — recognizing how past and intergenerational experiences may continue to shape your present, including the ways inherited patterns and relational legacies are carried forward

Parts work — engaging the different parts of you that carry, protect, adapt, and express, including inner child work

Depth work — exploring what lives beneath the surface, including emotions, patterns, and meaning

Recovery work — supporting those navigating addiction or compulsion, as well as family members, partners, and loved ones impacted by these patterns, including 12-step and ACOA-informed pathways, while exploring the deeper emotional and relational roots that sustain these dynamics

Together, we:

  • Work with patterns as they show up in real time

  • Track how your experiences live in your body

  • Bring attention to parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside or quietly carrying a lot

  • Stay with the underlying emotional layers beneath your reactions

  • The inherited patterns and relational legacies you carry and how those can be understood, softened, and, at times, unburdened

  • The ways culture, identity, and lived experience shape what you’ve come to carry and how you relate to yourself and others

  • Support shifts that emerge through sustained attention and engagement often opening into a greater sense of aliveness, creativity, and connection
